We recommend that you include at least 2 or 3 nights at both Wilderness Lodges. You can build both Lodges into your south Island itinerary between Christchurch or Nelson and Queenstown/Wanaka. The experiences offered at both Lodges are quite different from each other and we know you will really enjoy the wide variety.

DAY 1 |
DRIVE FROM CHRISTCHURCH/CHRISTCHURCH AIRPORT TO WILDERNESS LODGE ARTHUR'S PASS (2 hours - 130 km/80 miles) Walk from your room and enjoy the easy Rainbow Valley Beech Forest Discovery (pictured) or our Broad Stream Gorge Walk. You may prefer to relax in our lounge or your room to enjoy the views. Join in with our 5pm activity.

WILDERNESS LODGE ARTHUR'S PASS DISCOVERY DAY Explore the heart of the Southern Alps with a day of discovery in the summit of the Pass, the Otira Glacier, the Bealey Chasm. Experience our high country sheep shearing and sheep dog programme and a Southern Cross Stars walk |

DAY 3

- Extra Discovery Day
Discover the wonderful limestone caves and castles east of the Lodge and canoe and picnic on lovely Lake Pearson or Sarah with Black Swans and mountain reflections. Relax at the Lodge with a gourmet restaurant lunch and special wines. Help out on the sheep farm with our superfine merino sheep. Walk in the Moa Forest to discover strange thorn forests, rare plants and birds.

DRIVE OVER ARTHUR'S PASS - HOKITIKA - THE GLACIERS - WILDERNESS LODGE LAKE MOERAKI (6 hours - 370 km/230 miles) You can enjoy lunch at the Glaciers and perhaps a helicopter flight over the ice. Settle in to your room and perhaps feed the giant tame eels or tame trout or possibly walk to Monro Beach. |

WILDERNESS LODGE LAKE MOERAKI DISCOVERY DAY Take a guided fur seal and Fiordland Crested Penguin (in season) seacoast walk.
Help yourself to our canoes and paddle up to the Lake. Enjoy a picnic or fish for giant brown trout. |

Extra Discovery Day
Explore the wild Cole Creek to Ship Creek beach walk to see waterfalls, rocky islands, starfish and Hector's Dolphins, the world's smallest. Drive to historic Jackson Bay and enjoy fresh lobster or fish and chips for lunch. Canoe at sunset on lovely Lake Moeraki. Discover Glow worms, Morepork Owls, Freshwater Crayfish and the Southern Cross. |
